Marilyn Aguilar-Portillo

CBL Scholar Class of 2027

Marilyn Aguilar-Portillo is a 1L student at UC Law San Francisco. She is Salvadorian-American, from Los Angeles, and a proud Trojan from the University of Southern California. There, she earned a double major in Psychology and Philosophy, was a member of the USC Mock Trial Team, and graduated with honors. Before law school, Marilyn worked as a law clerk at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, where she discovered her passion for advocacy within the legal field. She later transitioned into the role of Director of Client Relations working in various industries, including lighting and medical startups. Through this experience, she developed a strong interest in the VC ecosystem and found excitement in the fast-paced, dynamic nature of working with startups. Marilyn’s success in business inspired her to pursue a career in corporate law, where she aims to merge her diverse experiences with her legal expertise to navigate the intersection of law, business, and innovation.

Outside of law school, Marilyn enjoys spending time with her dog, Toby, watching films, and reading inspirational memoirs. She also has a passion for travel and cherishes quality time with her family.
