Scott James is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer at Goodwater Capital, where he drives day-to-day operations at the firm and oversees key strategic initiatives. Prior to Goodwater, Scott worked at several venture capital firms and began his legal career at Gunderson Dettmer, where he advised early- and growth-stage startups and leading venture funds on financings, M&A, capital-markets transactions, and corporate governance. Scott regularly teaches classes and seminars on venture capital and startup law. Scott received his B.S. in Managerial Economics from UC Davis and J.D. from UC Hastings, and is admitted to practice in California.
