As a partner in McGuireWoods’ Debt Finance Department, Brian Coughlan regularly serves as a transactional advisor to major financial institutions, hedge funds and finance companies in complex commercial financings, including syndicated and single-bank lending transactions (secured and unsecured), credit enhancement transactions and structured finance transactions. He also leads domestic and cross-border financings, particular those transactions which include foreign collateral to support domestic credit facilities.

Brian represents clients across a wide range of industries, including real estate, environmental services and clients specializing in “off-the-run” or esoteric assets. He also advises FinTech clients regarding financing structures.

Brian’s broad experience extends to representing financial institutions in credit restructurings, advising hedge funds in general corporate matters, and serving as a day-to-day business advisor to portfolio companies. In addition, he has represented microlenders in connection with loans to small businesses.
